The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a Pakistan weather forecast warning of a significant westerly wave approaching northwestern Pakistan on Saturday evening (March 14). The system is expected to persist until March 16 morning.

According to the Pakistan Met Office forecast, the westerly wave will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with moderate rain and thunderstorms across Pakistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts — including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Dera Ismail Khan — along with Balochistan (Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman), Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir are on high alert. Snowfall over northern Pakistan’s high mountains is also expected, with isolated hailstorms in KPK and Punjab remaining a possibility.

The rain and thunderstorm forecast for Lahore, Islamabad, and central Punjab covers the period from the night of March 14 to March 16 morning, with occasional breaks. Cities including Rawalpindi, Murree, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, and Sheikhupura fall within the affected zone. The PMD notes daytime temperatures may drop by 3–4°C in upper regions during this period.
Second western disturbance on March 17
