The Government of Pakistan has officially announced three public holidays for Eid ul Fitr 2026, scheduled from March 21 to March 23, as confirmed by the Cabinet Division notification.
This year’s Eid holidays in Pakistan carry special significance — the third day coincides with Pakistan Day (March 23), a gazetted national holiday. This overlap creates an extended festive break, giving families across the country more time to celebrate, travel, and gather with loved ones.
Schools nationwide are expected to close from the evening of March 20 (Friday), with most reopening on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
The final date of Eid ul Fitr depends on the Shawwal moon sighting by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. SUPARCO has predicted that Eid ul Fitr in Pakistan is expected on March 21, 2026.
Citizens are advised to monitor official announcements via the Cabinet Division portal and provincial education departments for any schedule updates.
