Pakistan Airline Ticket Prices Surge After 82% Jet Fuel Price Hike

Domestic & International Airfares Climb Sharply

Pakistan airline ticket prices have risen sharply after jet fuel costs jumped 82% — from Rs 188.93 to Rs 342 per litre — an increase of Rs 154 per litre driven by global oil market volatility and regional tensions.

Domestic flight fares on routes including Karachi–Lahore and Karachi–Islamabad are up by Rs 2,800 to Rs 5,000 per ticket. On international routes, aviation fuel cost pressures have pushed fares Rs 10,000 to Rs 28,000 higher, depending on destination. Flights to Middle East and Central Asian countries have risen by around Rs 15,000, while one-way economy fares to Toronto and Manchester now exceed Rs 250,000.

What’s Behind the Aviation Fuel Cost Surge?

Officials cite escalating Middle East tensions and global oil market instability as primary drivers. The government also recently raised petrol and diesel prices, reflecting broader energy-sector pressure. Aviation fuel typically accounts for 30–40% of airline operating expenses, leaving carriers with limited options but to pass costs onto passengers.
